Honoring the Harvest at UUCB

The Honoring Indigenous Peoples Group at UUCB is having its second annual Three Sisters Garden harvest celebration on Sunday, August 25, 2024. The 11 am service will include an “Honoring the Harvest” blessing by Kanyon CoyoteWoman Sayers-Roods, artist, educator and Cultural Representative and Native Monitor for the Indian Canyon Mutsun Band of Costanoan Ohlone People. The overall theme of the service, led by Rev. Marcus Liefert, is “An Ecology of Welcome”—how habitat shapes growth.

Following the service there will be a potluck lunch; participants are encouraged to bring items featuring the “three sisters” corn, beans and squash—or anything else they would like to contribute. There will be seating both indoors and outdoors.

At the church door we will also be collecting donations of fresh vegetables, either from your home garden or purchased, to donate to a local food bank. You can visit the garden behind the church building at your own convenience.
